HRM as we all know is an art of managing people at work in such a manner that they give best to the organization. Now let us examine what is e-HRM?  e-HRM has been given various definitions by experts. In simple words e-HRM is a web based solution that takes advantage of the latest web application technology to deliver an online real-time Human Resource Management Solution which is user friendly and can be tailor made to match the specific needs of the organization. It has been used in various arms of HR like recruitment, selection, PMS & compensation and has been a great success . e-HRM is transparent, reduces administrative burden and is time effective. The initial set up cost can be high, but its advantages are innumerable.
 In India Companies like Infosys, TATA and banks like IDBI , ICICI use e- HRM. Organizations  these days are aware that human resources have changed more from a cost factor to a success factor. e-HRM facilitates the usage of HR marketplace and offers more self-service to the employees. e-HRM can be used build a transparent environment for employees as e-HRM has no emotions and nobody can blame e-HRM for partiality. E-HRM improves organization climate very clearly and in good climate everybody gets relaxation and can do their job very well, so it relates to the excellent production or enhance quality. If organizations wants to excel,  e-HRM as an Implementation Support System (ISS) can help them to institutionalize best-practices for long-term growth and utilize its resources to the maximum potential.
e-HRM is being  considered a medium to help HR professionals in making strategic decisions through the provision of executive reports and summaries . It makes HR practices measurable.  E-HRM introduction in organizations will require creation of a clear HRM vision and re-structuring of the HR function. The implementation of e-HRM can be challenging, however it is highly beneficial in measuring and developing human capital. Organizations around the world are no longer surprised by e-HRM and are ready to invest in it further.

  2. Wainey - your eHRM thoughts are very will express in nutshell, but you could have elaborated your thoughts. For example the Implementation Support Service (ISS) could be in more in details.

  3. Very Concise way of putting your thoughts on E-HRM. Infact all the big-wiggies IT companies like Infosys, Accenture etc will not have been what they are today, had they not been following eHRM.

    The ESS and MSS based on portal where employees can themselves create and modify their data saves a lot of bandwidth in term of HR efforts.
