 Recruitment

We are witnessing a change in the nature of jobs. Muscle jobs are disappearing, finger and brain jobs are growing or to put it more formally, labor based industries have been displaced by skill based industries and these in turn will have to be replaced by knowledge based industries.
The global economy is fast becoming a reality where organizations will need to find ways to become more productive, more efficient and more competitive. Firms should prepare for the big global game and become more efficient and competitive to deliver high performance. A high performance business starts with a high performance workforce.
Therefore organizations should substantially focus on increasing their productivity, market shares and shareholder value by ensuring that they have the right people with the right skills in the right role. With this significant focus becoming an area of concern, there is a need for due attention to recruitment practices. Recruitment provides the first contact for an organization with its potential employees. An organization must have an effective recruitment policy and process to inform candidates about the job openings and persuade them to apply for the available position.

Human resource is no longer considered a business requirement rather it has distinguished its self as one of the core assets of an organization. The internet is no more  just a rage; it has now become a very powerful and effective tool at every body’s disposal. This is where the realm of e recruitment starts.
E –recruitment has been as issue of interest over the past few years. Internet is considered as the latest tool in hiring. It is a real revolution spread over the world. Recruitment is the use of technology to attract candidates and aid the recruitment process. E-recruitment is simple, using this tool to hire whom you desire.
This picture below explains the process in a gist.

General Advantages and disadvantages of E-recruitment:-

·         Geographical spread
·         Larger audience
·         Greater chance to find right candidate quicker/with greater effectiveness
·         24/7 - no waiting for issue dates
·         Quicker turn-around time/cost saving
·         Relatively cheap
·         Higher quality of applicants
·         Better match of workers - vacancies
·         Shift from manual screening to using ‘HRM expertise’
·         Positive effect on corporate image/up-to-date image
·         Efficiency gains
·         More opportunities for smaller companies

Disadvantages-
·                     Higher expectations regarding relocation costs
·                     Development fees for small companies
·                     Name recognition required (buy banner space)
·                     Outdated résumés
·                     Discrimination/privacy
·                     Internet not the first option for applicants
·                      Overwhelming number of candidates
·                     Huge number of unqualified candidates

E-recruitment is not hiring the best among those knocking at your door rather it’s a quest to enroll the right candidate in your human capital, going beyond all barriers with the help of latest technology.

  3. Rucha –Very well explained e-recruitment, and it merits and demerits. As every coin has both the sides, similarly technology has also the brighter and darker side. You could have explained the process step-by-step as how e-recruitment takes place, but the flow diagram explains it’s beautifully.

    Thanks & Regards,
